Orchestra’s Background
The official birthday of the State Symphony Orchestra “Novaya Rossiya” is September 30, 1990 when by the decree of the Council of Ministers of RSFSR State Children and Youth Symphony Orchestra of the RSFSR Council of Education was formed. Dmitry Orlov, the Honoured Artist of Russia, was appointed as artistic director.In February 1993 the State Children and Youth Symphony Orchestra of the ministry of Education was renamed as Youth Symphony Orchestra of the RF Ministry of Education. Mark Gorenshtein was appointed as the head director.
In December 1994 the State Youth Symphony Orchestra of the RF Ministry of Education passed over under the competence of RF Ministry of Culture.
In February 1995 the Orchestra was renamed into State Symphony Orchestra of Russia.
In October 2002 State Symphony Orchestra of Russia was renamed into Federal State Cultural institution “State Symphony Orchestra Novaya Rossiya”. Yury Bashmet was appointed the artistic director and head conductor.
In March 2007 the orchestra won a grant of RF Government.
In January 2010 State Symphony Orchestra “Novaya Rossiya” was awarded with a grant from the President of the Russian Federation.
