Freddy Cadena
Freddy Cadena began his musical studies at the National Conservatory of Quito, Ecuador.
In 1984 he won a scholarship to continue his studies in Moscow. He first attended the choral conducting studio of L. Pavlov at the Music College. Then at the Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory he studied choral conducting with Maestro B. Kulikov and Opera and Symphony conducting with Maestros L. Nikolaev and V. Kataev. In 1994, Mr. Cadena graduated from the Conservatory with honors.
He participated in conducting master classes in Germany, Spain, and Moscow under the prominent German conductor and professor Helmuth Rilling.
Freddy Cadena has collaborated with various orchestras and ensembles such as the Russian Philharmonia Orchestra, the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Russia, the Opera Studio Orchestra of the Moscow Conservatory, the Russian Ministry of Defense Symphony Orchestra, the Yurlov Academic Choir Cappella, “Vesna” Children’s Choir School, the Moscow Symphony Orchestra, the "Novaya Rossia" State Symphony Orchestra, the Aragon Brass Symphony Orchestra (Spain), and leading symphony orchestras in Ecuador. He has toured throughout Russia, Europe, and South America.
From 1992 until 2000 he lead conducting master classes in Spain.
In 1995, he became the Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra, founded and supported by the Moscow Composers’ Union.
Mr. Cadena participates in numerous music festivals including International Festival of Contemporary Music “Moscow Autumn”, Ibero-American Cultural Festival, “The Soul of Japan”, “Glinka” Festival of Smolensk, “I Festival de la cuerda pulsada” in Asturias, Spain.
He has accompanied outstanding Russian soloists Vladimir Krainev, Irina Arkhipova, Vladislav Piavko, Alexei Kozlov, Marina Yashvili, Marina Tarasova, Zoria Shihmurzaeva, Maria Tchaikovskaya, Vladislav Igolinsly, Valery Popov, Alexander Bakhchiev, Hibla Gerzmava.
From 2000 to 2006, Maestro Cadena had worked as a teacher, conductor, and music director of the Opera Training Faculty of the Moscow Conservatory (the productions of Bach’s Coffee Cantata, Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Verdi’s Traviata, Offenbach’s Un Mari à la Porte and many others).
Maestro Freddy Cadena was awarded a Gold Medal of the Moscow Composers’ Union in November 2008 for his active participation in the International Festival of Contemporary Music "The Moscow Autumn".
In January 2011 he was appointed Conductor of the State Symphony Orchestra "Novaya Rossia", Maestro Yuri Bashmet, Music Director and Principal Conductor.
